REES History

“This program or service is funded in whole or in part by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 in cooperation with the California Department of Community Services & Development and Community Action Partnership of Riverside County.”

In the fall of 2009 the Riverside County Child Care Consortium (RCCCC) received a grant from the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County to create local businesses through the establishment of family child care homes in Riverside County.  Funding for the Racial Equity and Economic Security (REES) Project is through the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The focus of the REES Project is to assist individuals to become licensed family child care home providers; or expand existing licensed capacity to serve additional children.  The project will initially concentrate in 3 areas of the county identified as low income and culturally diverse communities.  Project participants will receive training, support, curriculum materials and financial assistance for fees and/or dues as they progress through the Community Care Licensing process.

A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) was established to assist the project in reaching its goals.  Members of TAC include the Riverside County Office of Education, Riverside County Department of Social Services, First 5 Riverside, Riverside Community College, and Riverside County Health Department.  Additionally, the project will collaborate with community organizations to assist RCCCC with training, meeting locations and technical support.

RCCCC is excited to have the opportunity to create local businesses through the establishment of family child care homes; and provide families with access to affordable quality child care services in their neighborhoods.

Note: The REES Project was funded through September 30, 2010.
